    <description>On HP UX 11i&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I have seen a few threads regarding problems with nslookup.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I have :&lt;BR /&gt;/usr/bin/nslookup:&lt;BR /&gt;         $Revision: vw: -RW    selectors:  'ic27d' -proj integ -- ph_ic27d_i80 'cupi80_ic27dbase_pb(08-Nov-00 &lt;BR /&gt;         Wed Nov  8 18:20:24 PST 2000 $&lt;BR /&gt;        getinfo.c       5.26 (Berkeley) 3/21/91&lt;BR /&gt;         Copyright (c) 1985,1989 Regents of the University of California.&lt;BR /&gt;        main.c  5.42 (Berkeley) 3/3/91&lt;BR /&gt;        nslookup $Revision: 1.1.213.2 $ Fri Mar 17 13:36:43 GMT 2000&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;My current nslookup does take a long time to complete a request.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>Do you have any basis for comparison?  Sometimes, depending on what's in the cache, resolution can take an extended out amount of time.  That's normal.  If you can consistenly see differences in performance between nslookup on 11.0 and 11i, for example, then you may have reason for concern.  By it's nature, it's going to be very difficult to measure such differences, though.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Pete</description>

      <description>nslookup is a very fast program.  small efficient, something of a security risk.  The Linux world is abandoning it in favor of dig.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;That being said, the cause of slow nslookup response is usually based on the following issues:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Slow response of the DNS system.  &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I've run into that problem with older Microsoft DNS servers and the answer is usually to set of a caching server on your HP box and modify /etc/resolv.conf to look there first.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;SEP</description>
