Hi Guys,

I have used swcopy to copy GOLDQPK to a dir and used the following command

swinstall -x patch_match_target=true -x autoreboot=true -s /u04/mar2003depots

but the system is giving the following error

=======  05/05/03 17:37:51 IST  BEGIN swinstall SESSION
(non-interactive) (jobid=sys1-0037)

* Session started for user "root@sys1".

* Beginning Selection
* Target connection succeeded for "orinoco:/".
* Source connection succeeded for "sys1:/u04/mar2003depots".
NOTE: The patch match operation failed to find patches for target
software on "sys1" which passed the filter.
NOTE: Cannot continue the "swinstall" task.

=======  05/05/03 17:38:10 IST  END swinstall SESSION (non-interactive)
(jobid=sys1-0037)

if i use sam i get APPS and BASE depot but when mark for install it says partial...

Any ideas ....

I have support plus cd too.

Regards

Sudhakar J
hi,

Partial means that some filesets from that patch you already have in your system.
About the error try to run the command withou the patch_match_target=true option and see the results.

best regards

Patch_match_target in 11.x systems used to
separate between 32 and 64 bit versions of filesets coming in the patch.

Check this one:
------------------------------------------
It isn't enough to specify just the match_target parameter on 11.x anymore.
The match_target option still functions, but no longer matches patches to
targets. Many people familiar with 10.x SD will be using this switch to
install patches, instead of the correct patch_match_target.

Most of the time this doesn't seem to cause problems, but there have been a
few instances where 32-bit kernel filesets are installed onto a 64-bit machine.
This will probably result in kernel build problems, linker issues and
unsatisfied libraries/symbols. * If you have any patch installation issues on
11.x, make sure that the patch_match_target switch was used for the
installation. *

Note also that not using patch_match_target=true can cause file associated
with filesets that do not exist on the target system to be loaded sometimes
causing unusual behaviour for other commands.
---------------------------------------------
I'd check in swagent log what software patch specifically complains.

Regards,

Zeev

Hi Sudhakar,

You won't have any problems when leaving the -x patch_match_target out of the command line. The patches that will be selected will still be checked for the proper architecture prior to being installed.

Regards,
Mateja

There is also a problem with your command line.

should be

swinstall -x autoreboot=true <OTHER -x="" options=""> -s /u04/mar2003depots \*

You need to let swinstall know if you want to install all or some of the patches in depot you copied.

Also, you should have used swcopy to copy the patches off the CD.

I'm attaching a script I use to create disk patch depots that might be useful.

SEP</OTHER>
