Hi,

Could you tell us what you mean by "not using for long time"
Do you mean the connections times out, or you get telnet connection refused messages. Also are these in the /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log file. Please advise the full message.

It could be a message where your system is out of pseudo tty's but it may not.

Regards
Michael

Hi,

It says connection refused. ( After 8 Hrs)

Only we can't open another telnet or FTP sessions. But we were able to work in the existing session.

Rajesh

run this diagnostic

inetd -l

It will bump logging up to maximum verbose mode and give you some ideas whats going on.

What about other forms of connection? Say http and whatnot.

I had a less than year old L2000 box start doing that intermittantly. The problem was the entire networking daemon was being brought down by a bad hub.

Lots of possible causes.

Do what I said above, then upload the log.

SEP

Typically how many users are on the system when the messages start??

As suggested turn on the logging for inetd.conf

Do you use full or half duplexing?

# lanadmin -x 0
