Steve,

Until last night I was able to connect to the management console for this machine via a telnet session. This telnet session would allow me to enter the configuration and select a partition Once the partition was selected I was able to log into the server in question, reboot the server, and interupt the boot process. Unfortunately, since late last night I have not been able to connect to the console in question. I was hoping there might be another way, possibly through a direct connection to the server (i.e. telnet, ssh, or reflection).

Michael

Is there away to configure a processor on a RP8400 remotely, i.e. without using a console? I am currently working on a RP8400 located in CA, but reside in MA and cannot currently connect to the console remotely, via telnet. Since it is about 4:40 AM PST I do not have a contact for off business hours that can reboot the system.

Is there a way to reconfigure a processors status through SAM or telnet?

Thanks

Hi

If your doing it via the GSP you would need a webconsole, if not via GSP how are you performing this ?

Steve

OK I'll admit I'm not a Partition expert but having seen it once or twice, isn't there an option in the X-Gui SAM for Partition Manager that will allow you to reconfigure your cells? Now, naturally, if you don't have the console you won't be able to interrupt the process if that is needed (which I think it is cause the BIB flag is on I think), but he may enable you to reconfigure from remote this way. Again, I'm not 100% about this, so maybe someone can confirm this or simply delete this post ;)

Marco,

Thank you for your response. After viewing the Partion Manager, and reading the associated help, it does not appear you can configure a deconfigured processor or vis versa. What it will allow you to do is to add or remove cells and change the cells attribute (i.e. available on next boot). I am not sure if removing a cell, then rebooting, adding the cell, and then rebooting will configure the deconfigured processors or if they will just remain in their current state. But this has at least provided me with an option.

If anyone has tried this before to successfully, or unsuccessfully, configure processors in a cell please let me know.

Thanks again.

Michael
