Some points:
1) Apply latest patches.
2) Check resource usage with GlancePlus (are you doing that now?)
3) If the 100% CPU is reported by top and if it's defers from Glance and sar, then apply the top(1m) patches.
4) It's not a direct answer, but you need to consider upgrading your OS to 11.X since 10.20 going to be obsoleted.

I would look into X Server patches. there are many.

Here is a patch search for you.

http://us-support.external.hp.com/emse/bin/doc.pl/sid=0c9668de1873910226?todo=search&searchtext=X+Server+motif&searchcriteria=allwords&searchtype=SEARCH_PATCH&searchcategory=HPUX_1020&searchcategory=ALL&rn=25&presort=rank&x=20&y=5

I recommend you check your system for these patches, read the notes.

Then modify the search, take out motif and see if you get some more.

The December 2001 Quality back for that OS is a must.

SEP
