rcp connection

I have two server name as sap1 and uxadmin.
from sap1,I can use rlogin to uxadmin but
uxadmin I cant rlogin to sap1.

I have add host information in broth server
.rhosts and /etc/hosts.equiv

Do you have any idea......

If you have an entry in /etc/hosts.equiv like this on server sap1 it will alow 'r' commands without a password for all users including 'rlogin'

uxadmin

Do you have an entry in /etc/inetd.conf, where 'login' has been commented out? If you make changes to this file, you must run 'inetd -c' to update the daemon.

If it still does not work ...
Do you have a trusted system ?
DO you have a /etc/securetty file?

Hi Michael,

rlogin from uxadmin to sap1,still its ask prompts for password.My server no a trusted
server and /etc/security file not inside.

Hi Ashan,
First u do an rlogin or telnet from uxadmin to sap1 by providing password.On sap1 u execute #who -u and find whether the connection shows sap1 or sap1.your.domain in last column.
You need to provide the hostname on .rhosts file of sap1 as what u are seeing in the last column of who -u.

A few more things to check.

Permissions of ~root/.rhosts must be owned by root

Name resolution does not have problems, i.e.

Is 'uxadmin' included in the /etc/hosts file on sap1?
