Quickie way.

vi /etc/mail/sendmail.cf

change directive

# Dj$wfoo.com

to

Djdomainname.com

save the file

/sbin/init.d/sendmail stop
/sbin/init.d/sendmail start

Now test it.

sendmail -v -d8.99 -d38.99 someone@domainname.com

Type in some text

.

This will get you good diagnostics.

Hi,
You must install POP3 software to receive the mail in Sendmail.
An alternate way(more easy),you can setup another mail server in Windows2000(for example Exchange/Lotus/Imail). You can send the mail to this mail server by Sendmail.
For example, if your email address like "@hp.com" , you can setup as following:
1. vi /etc/passwd
...
192.168.100.1 rlhost hp.com
..
2. vi /etc/mail/sendmail.cf
Change "Dj$w.Foo.COM" to "Dj$w.xyz.com".
Change "DS" to "DSrlhost".
Save.
3. Restart the sendmail server.

Now you can make a test:
#mailx -s "TEST" username@hp.com
-ux

In Step3 I mean "Restart sendmail service" not "Restart sendmail server"!

Befor begining to configure the /etc/mail/sendmail.cf file You must check if your HP-UX system does "see" the Relay server and visceversa, this must be checked with nfslookup.

If your HP-UX system doesn't have configured DNS you must configure your nsswitch
You can copy the file /etc/nsswitch.files
to /etc/nsswitch.conf.

The next thing to check is doing a telnet in port 25 in between UNIX Server and the relay server ( Both ways ) by ussiong the command :
# telnet 25
and try to check if they resolve ech others mail adresses with the SMPT tool vrfy.

Example : from the Relay Server you did a telnet to the unix server and you are already in the prompt:

vrfy root@.company.com

Once you have all this structure working you can begin to configure the sendmail.cf file
