110 Support Plus

Hello guys,

I wanted to know when we install bundles from the support plus CD what are the bundles which get installed and do we need to install any more bundles other then the once which are installed from the CD?

QPK1100 Is the Quality Pack bundle of patches. It contains most of the HPUX patches you would need.

HWE1100 Is the Hardware Enablement bundle. It has drivers, etc for Hardware. (Like the newer stuff...)

OnlineDiag Is the Online Diagnostics utilities.

Once you install those, go out and from the security_patch tools. You may want to install some security patches that have not yet hit the QPK bundles.

Hi Smitha,

You will get the following bundles installed through Support Plus CD.

HWE - Hardware enablement bundle
QPK - Quality Pack
OnlineDiag - Online Diagnostic bundles

Should print the above three.

Patches are released by HP four times a year through CDs - in March, June, September and December. A good practice is to be a maximum of 6 months old on patch levels. Subscribe to HP's security bulletins and you will get notifications on security alerts and the corresponding patches. You will have to keep up with them too.

In general, we do them on a test machine the month they come out. We run them hard between 2-4 weeks and then roll them out to our production machines.

This is a policy issue and you will get many opinions.

We have decided to keep up with them though a few times the install has shown we already have the patdhes installed, because we did them before they made three star or quality bundle status.

You have the next packs:
hardware, quality and online diagnostics.
You also have explanations for the patches
so you can check about the patches.

The hardware & quality in most cases.
But every case need more check about spicific
patches, you also have recomended patches
that them you should install.

There are three bundles which you have to install in the following order:
- OnlineDiag
- QPK100
- HWE1100

You should read the booklet accompanying the CD. It is very helpful.
