what kind of problem do you have ?
Or this is your first install and you want some guidelines ?

In the latter i suggest you to read the docs in

htpp://docs.hp.com

i cannot be more precise.

If you bought the Enterprise OE mirrorUX should be already bundled, so no need to install it, just use it !

you can check with

swlist -l fileset | grep -i lvm

there should be something like LVM.mirror

listed.

Hello Massimo,
infact, i want to use mirrorUX, but right now i dont know how to verify mirrorUX presence in HP-UX. we have purchased 11i enterprise OE, but in installed software list in sam, there is no such software like mirrorUX. Now, if i have to install it, what should be the procedure. & if it is installed, how could i check it in my OE & then secondly & most importantly, how could i use it.

Hi,
to check, do an

swlist

check if output is containing something similar to the following:

# Initializing...
# Contacting target "omih471"...
#
# Target: omih471:/
#

#
# Bundle(s):
#

B2491BA B.11.11 MirrorDisk/UX
...

To install it:
mount the installation CD
use swinstall and chosse the product. you may have to reinstall also some patch.
Or it may be in the APP cd, i don't remember with the Enterprise OE, i thought it was bundled already.

To use it:
check the man page of the command "lvextend".

It is used for controlling the mirroring with hte option "-m ".

Step 1.

Codeword installation:

sam

Action, Add Code Word

Punch in the Code word that came with the software.

exit sam

Put the cd in

mount it

swinstall -i

Find the HP-UX Mirror software which is invisible prior to codeword installation.

Mark and install the software which will boot your system.

To use mirror/ux
command -m for mirror 1 copy logical volume name disk for the mirror copy.
lvextend -m 1 /lvolname /dev/dsk/c5t8d4

I've never striped, can't help you with that.

Hello HP GURUS,
Thnx for all the valueable advices u ppl gavetometosolve the problem. & Just one more thing plz...... how do i verify that mirrordisk/ux is already installed or not,coz our server is live now, and i cant play with her.I have to be sure abt the solution & all the steps which i would be going to perform on her. Is there any command line procedure to check the presence of mirrordisk/ux on her or any other method in ur knowledge. Once again ur highly vluable comments & solutions are really appriciated.

check whether mirror-ux is installed:
# swlist -l product |grep -i mirror

Hi KM,

Though your machine is under production "swlist" is very safe command and be sure it will do no harm.

When you run "swlist" command on the system you should see something as MirrorDisk/UX, if this is there that means mirror-ux is installed otherwise not.

check if vgsync command exists:
# ll /usr/sbin/vgsync.

You can do this with your server running and it will not affect anything. Here is what happens when I run it on my 11.11 system here:

you can be sure in HER is always built in MirrorDisk.

You can proof this if you ask HER, what she is doing all the time in the bath.
