Hi F.X,

I do no really know, how you have tried to install the product ( remotly I think ), but I can give you a description of this parameter and perhaps you can self explain how you must do it.

select_local=true
Normally set to "true," selects the default depot or installation directory of the local host as the target of the command. If the -t target file is not specified or there were no targets otherwise specified on the command line, the local host is selected. This option applies only to the Command Line User Interface only. The GUI (in the multiple target case) will never automatically select the local system as a target.

Applies to all commands.
The -t option only applies to the HP OpenView Software Distributor product and in diskless client installations and removals.

Regards
Roland

Hi all,

I have the following problem: when trying to install a package using swinstall, it always fails with the following message:

--- start swinstall.log msg ---
The task has suspended on the target "XXXXX:/". For information on
why the task suspended, press the "Logfile ..." button. To
unsuspend, you must either press the "Abort" button to quit or fix
the problem and press the "Resume" button to continue.
--- end swinstall.log msg ---

Looking at swagent log file, I see:

--- swagent.log ---
* Summary of Analysis Phase:
* 1 of 1 filesets had no Errors or Warnings.
* The Analysis Phase succeeded.

* Beginning the Install Execution Phase.
* Filesets:         1
* Files:            52
* Kbytes:           227
* Installing bundle "CFG2HTML,r=B.1.93" .
* Installing fileset "cfg2html.cfg2html,r=B.1.93" (1 of 1).
ERROR: Could not access remote file "/opt/cfg2html/VERSION" in
software item "cfg2html.cfg2html,r=B.1.93,a=,v=HP:/" due to an
internal error on the remote system.
ERROR: Failed installing fileset "cfg2html.cfg2html,r=B.1.93". Check
the above output for details.
--- swagent.log end ---

For info, I have attached the swlist of my system.

Is this a known issue, and is there a patch to apply?
If so, how can I apply a patch when swinstall refuses to work?

Thanks in advance,

FiX

FiX,

Whenever I see swinstall errors the first thing I attempt is restarting the swagentd daemon.

/sbin/init.d/swagentd stop
/sbin/init.d/swagentd start

Pete

I think the problem is the install is trying to replace the /opt/cfg2html/VERSION file and failed. This happened to me the other day and the problem was that in the patch the file did not get gunzipped. I gunzipped the file and did the resume and it finished normally.

Pete,

thanks for the _fast_ reply! Unfortunately, I've been working with HP-UX for a few years now, and _did_ try restarting swagentd immediately ;-)

Cheers,

FiX

Hi,

by changing the defaulkt configuration to "resolve all source address locally" I managed to solve the issue.
I can therefore use swinstall again, but still don't understand why this problem occured...

Cheers,

FiX
