No compatible software error when swinstalling

I was trying to use an app cd from Mar2003 to do an swinstall. I am getting an error that there are no compatible products found.

Any advice?

Please check if the CD is for the OS version you are running.

1) post the swinstall command you used.
2) You may have everything installed.
3) It may be an 11i cd and you are running 11.00 or vice sersa

swinstall -x autoreboot=true -x reinstall=false -s /full_path_of_depot \*

In this case /cdrom/depotname

Is the App CD for the same release as your server? Can you be more specific? Do you get to see the list of software to choose from and then you get the error after you've chosen an app? Do you not even see the list?

11.00 OS and 11.00 cd's.

The cd's I am using are the application cd's.

I am not sure what release the oS was. It came pre-loaded from a vendor.

I am trying to use a Mar 2003 App cd for 11.00 though.

It will not show any software what so ever.

Jeremy,

Use a swlist command or a uname -a command to determine the version of the OS on your system. It sounds to me like you've got a 11i system.

Try reading the CD in a Windows machine and see if you can see something. I have the feeling you have a bad CD.

Well, it's definitely an 11.0 system. Back to my earlier questions:

Do you get to see the list of software to choose from and then you get the error after you've chosen an app? Do you not even see the list?

I've had to manually type the full path name for each product off of those update CDs.

No errors mounting the cd. I can ls the /SD_CDROM directory. But when I run

swinstall -s /SD_CDROM

It tells me there are products that requires keys yada yada.. then it immediatly says

Currently, there are no products on this source which are compatible with the target. Therefore, no products are shown.

But no I cannot see any products.

Tried restarting swagent.. no dice.

I tried a couple different ones from different years. No change.

Is there anything equiv to Sun's /etc/release for HPUX? It pretty much tells you what release number of the OS you have ie 02/03.
