Hey all,

Where does a person go to get firmware upgrade info? I'm looking for the actual firmware upgrade, info on how to do it, etc... Most notably for hard drives. We have some OLD disks that would be great to try this out on. Any ideas?

Thanks!

-Tim
One possible way is to download the firmware file and read the readme file.
You can download the firmware in the ITRC -> Maintenance/Support -> Individual Patches -> Firmware

Hi:

I always arrange for HP Support to come in once a year and refresh disk & processor firmware. You can toast a disk if you load the wrong firmware.

...JRF...

Thanks for the quick responses.

Patrick - I didn't see any disk firmware upgrade software at the site, but I have to admit I didn't know that site existed (firmware, not individual patches). Thanks!

Am I to pretty much assume that this activity (upgrading firmware) is best left to HP techs?

-Tim

Yes, for support reasons best to leave firmware upgrades to HP engineers. If you do it yourself and cock it up you will destroy some hardware, and HP may refuse to fix it for free whereas an engineer does it, its fixed free.
