      <title>custom patch manager - make_depot hangs - ftp cannot connect</title>

      <description>Attempting to run make_depot downloaded from custom patch manager and it hangs.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;patch_check.ftpls contains "not connected"&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Tried to interactively run ftp manually and ftp hangs with trying to connect to ftp.itrc.hp.com.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;When I access ftp.itrc.hp.com from a different server I can connect.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Here's contents of /etc/inetd.conf from the server that I can do ftp sessions:&lt;BR /&gt;   /etc/inetd.conf&lt;BR /&gt;     ftp          stream tcp nowait root /usr/lbin/ftpd  ftpd &lt;BR /&gt;     tftp        dgram  udp wait   root /usr/lbin/tftpd    tftpd    /opt/ignite    /var/opt/ignite&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Here's a copy of /etc/inetd.conf from the server that I cannot connect to the itrc site:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;   /etc/inetd.conf&lt;BR /&gt;     ftp          stream tcp nowait root /usr/lbin/ftpd      ftpd  -u 007&lt;BR /&gt;     tftp        dgram  udp wait   root /usr/lbin/tftpd    tftpd        /usr        /home        /opt/ignite        /var/opt/ignite&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Any ideas?&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>I'm probably being stupid, and its been a rough day for me, but why not make the server that does not work like the one that does.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;inetd -c &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;try the download.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;It is possible your firewall is configured to only grant ftp access to certain IP addresses. Perhaps have a word with your network admin.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;SEP</description>

      <description>make_depot fails on the production server and works on the test server.  &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Changing the test server doesn't require a change request and I'd like to know the reason why it won't work.  &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Now I change the test server entries in inetd.conf to match those of production and see if the test server no longer works.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;jack</description>
