I need to change dbc_max_pct on an L1000 running HP-UX 11.00. I have found the appropriate place in SAM, but I would like to know the procedure to make the change effective before performing the operation. Any information is appreciated.

Just make the change in SAM and then let SAM rebuild the kernel and reboot the system. That's it (assuming you have already backed up your old kernel/config).

If you are asking what the value should be, the recommondation for dbc_max_pct is no more than 25%.

HTH.

You can use SAM to perform this task safely.

sam > Kernel Configuration > Configurables Parameters > highlight dbc_max_pct > Actions > Modify Configurable Parameter > enter new value > Actions > Process New Kernel.

Hai
Yes, SAM will detect a change in the kernel values when you exit the kernel config screen and ask if you would like to rebuild the kernel. This comes with a warning that the system will be automatically rebooted.

HTH.
