I'm trying to install a patch with command 'swinstall -s /cdrom/XSW800GR1020' I typed the command asked to hit enter to continue then it comes back with a pop up screen asking to select target typed /cdrom and an error messages comes up "failed to initialize this agent. Make sure the agent program exists on this host and can be executed." Any idea?

Thanks, Maria
Restart the sw agent:

# /usr/sbin/swagentd -r

Then, try the install again interactively:

# swinstall

Following the screen instructions to provide info.

Hai

Maria,

Whether the swagentd is running or not, the first thing to try is restarting it:

/sbin/init.d/swagentd stop
/sbin/init.d/swagentd start

You might also want to verify that hostname resolution is functioning properly: try nslookup by hostname and by ipaddress to check.

Pete

Hi,

U please kill the swagentd process and then start it. Some times killing the process and starting it will work rather than stop and start.

Regards
VJ.
