Hi,

The possibility of having problem with openssh is less. I would do some more troubleshooting. If you are concerned about security, create a temporary account and open a telnet session to the server. See if it also hangs during the same time.

Also see if you find any any interesting errors in syslog.log.

Try looking at other factors such as CPU, memory, network etc.,

-Sri

Hello,

We seem to be having problems with our ssh sessions hanging intermittently. We have about 4 or 5 users on the master server at a time and once or twice a day everyones shells hang at the same time for about 10-20 seconds.

I'm running HPUX 11.00 and ssh version 3.1p1 and we use ssh to connect to all our clients computers running the same version.

Has anyone else had the same problem or have any ideas on where I can look?

I am assuming it is ssh but it may be something unrelated, this happens when there is only one user connected also and is independant of the time of day.

Cheers

Hi Barry

As you've said you need to isolate if this is actually an issue with SSH. To me it could be network related (eg an extremely busy network).

Are you able to get your Network Admins to look at the network stats for the times that you are having session hang?

You could also try running a telnet session (if security permits this) as well & see if this hangs at the same time as the SSH sessions.

Cheers
Con

Two suggestions.
http://hpux.connect.org.uk/hppd/hpux/Networking/Admin/openssh-3.6.1p1/

It fixes problems. It might help.

I'd check the logs and follow other suggestions first.

http://www.software.hp.com/cgi-bin/swdepot_parser.cgi/cgi/displayProductInfo.pl?productNumber=T1471AA

I've found it to be reliable.

If there are hangs on non-ssh stuff then ignore and zero point this suggestion please.

SEP
