Hi,
I had installed GOLDQPK11i. The depot contains GOLDAPPS11i and GOLDBASE11i. And what about BUNDLE11i? - Should I also install it?

I found this bundles here:

There is also depot HWEnable11i released september'03. Is it recommended or not?

I would isntall them both. I did when setting up new systems.

Its a good base to start with.

Its not the end.

You will need additional patches for java, oracle and other applications that you need to run.

Hi Steven,

Does the installation order matter? I have installed GOLDQPK11i and I'm going to install BUNDLE11i. Will it be the same effect as then I would install in following order: ?

1. BUNDLE11i
2. GOLDQPK11i

If you want a stable up to date system I recommend this type of procedure to update
Patches.

1. Establish a baseline for all applications.
i.e. this app has these bundles& patches.

i.e. this app has these bundles & patches. and this release of Application software. I recommend setting up a patch server for this.

Update the OS at least Semi-annually, a month or two after the Gold packs are available and check for patches that go on top of the gold pack.(A month normally should have the bugs tracked and fixed).

This will save you headaches and keep you current without being on the bleeding edge of technology.

Chris,

Install *all* the bundles. The bundles are simply collections of patches that have been tested to work together. They provide a sort of base line. If particular patches do not apply because you don't have the application they're related to (GOLDAPPS) or the hardware that they enable (HWE), those patches won't be selected for install. Thats the beauty of Software Distributor and the patch bundles.
