Hi All,

I am trying to recover SAP/Oracle datafile via sam frecover. unfortunately, some the files are not accepting the recovery and i am not really sure if it had been copied correctly or not. All i had done was getting a list of all files that backed up to /var/tmp/index and i found the file as below.

2147491840 1 /oracle/YP1/sapdata9/es46cd_1/es46cd.data1
2147491840 1 /oracle/YP1/sapdata9/es46cd_2/es46cd.data2

while recovery i got the following:

drwxr-xr-x orayp1 dba /oracle/YP1/sapdata9/es46cd_1
frecover(1071): /oracle/YP1/sapdata9/es46cd_1/es46cd.data1 - needs -o largefiles mount option
drwxr-xr-x orayp1 dba /oracle/YP1/sapdata9/es46cd_2
frecover(1071): /oracle/YP1/sapdata9/es46cd_2/es46cd.data2 - needs -o largefiles mount option
drwxr-xr-x orayp1 dba /oracle/YP1/sapdata9/es46cd_3
-rw-r----- orayp1 dba /oracle/YP1/sapdata9/es46cd_3/es46cd.data3
drwxr-xr-x orayp1 dba /oracle/YP1/sapdata9/es46ci_1
-rw-r----- orayp1 dba /oracle/YP1/sapdata9/es46ci_1/es46ci.data1
drwxr-xr-x orayp1 dba /oracle/YP1/sapdata9/es46ci_2
-rw-r----- orayp1 dba /oracle/YP1/sapdata9/es46ci_2/es46ci.data2
drwxr-xr-x orayp1 dba /oracle/YP1/sapdata9/es46ci_3

What is the cause of this?
THe filesystem you are restoring on has not been mounted with the "largefiles" option and the backup contains files over 2GB in size.

If the filesystem was created with largefiles then just "mount -o largefiles /dev/vgXX/lvolXX /mountpoint"

Enable large files on the file system where you are restoring

#fsadm -F vxfs -o largefiles /dev/vgXX/rvol.

Also make the appropriate entries in the /etc/fstab.

Hi Ashraf,

No matter - HFS supports largefiles as well.
You need to run:

fsadm -F hfs -o largefiles /dev/vgsap2/rsapdata9

Then try the frecover again.

HTH,
Jeff
