I think you've got a F/W device connected to a SE port. Check how they were connected on the K - I think you'll find that the port was F/W. They won't work on SE, you've got a SCSI conflict and that's why the devices aren't being recognised.

Pete

I am trying to add a dlt400s to a d350.

I have stape and tape2 in the kernel, but when I connect the device and issue an ioscan -fnCtape, it is not reporting reported either CLAIMED or UNCLAIMED. I know that the device works as it has come from a K server. I have tried issuing an insf, but it does not see the device. The device is attached to the single ended port on the back. I have tried another dlt4000 unit and have the same issue. Both have scsi id's of 0

I have attached an ioscan -fn, and the /stand system file for reference. I don't really want to have to reboot if possible.

Cheers in advance

Russell

ioscan

Class I H/W Path Driver S/W State H/W Type Description
=======================================================================
bc 0 root CLAIMED BUS_NEXUS
bc 1 8 ccio CLAIMED BUS_NEXUS I/O Adapter
bc 2 8/0 bc CLAIMED BUS_NEXUS Bus Converter
tty 0 8/0/0 mux2 CLAIMED INTERFACE MUX
Hi Russell,
DLT4000 is not a single ended device, use this on a fastwide SCSI controller then you'll be able to see the device properly.

Cheers
Rajeev

Chaps,

Thanks for your replies.

I'm not so sure that is is F/W though. The tape unit has 2 x 50 pin connectors on the back and it was connected to the Hp-PB SCSI (SE) card in the K box. (It does not have 68 pin connectors on it)

Bit more info, the model number of the unit is CTS 2210-HP. It is connected to (8)/16/5

Cheers

Russ

Yes, please check if it's HVD or not and DO NOT connect it to SE if it's HVD.
Your server has only one HVD adapter at 8/4, and looks like it's already overloaded with disks (I guess there's Jamaica box connected). I suggest to add one mode HVD adapter to connect the tape drive. If it's not possible... then connect it to this one (daisy chain with Jamaica), but remember: your root/swap/boot disks are on this bus!
Eugeny

Youve got to plug it into 8/16/5 (50 pin SE controller) and change the scsi id - scsi 0 is alread used for the DDS drive. Change it to anything except 0, 2 (CD) or 7 (scsi controller).
