Installing STM from March 2003 patch bundle

I need to upgeade my STM to a newer version, and on the March 2003 patch bundle CD I don't see this listed. Is this under Diagnostics?

I presume that installing the newer version of STM does not require a reboot? Do I install it like any other patch bundle install? How much free space must I have under the respective directories?

After mounting the CD, you then cd to DIAGNOSTICS. It's just a vanilla swinstall from there. Off the top of my head, you need about 80MB or so for a new install of STM but like any swinstall, the space requirements will be checked for you as part of the Analysis Phase.

I'm too lazy to go mount the cd but I seem to remember there is any directory below DIAGNOSTICS, B.11.11 or some such but you should have no trouble finding it.

Download the latest STM (Sept 2003) from here:

You can also find it from your CD under DIAGNOSTICS directory. You can install it with 'swinstall' command and it's similar to installation of a patch bundle. The space requirements will be provided to you (and the file system free space changes) after the analysis phase.

Thanks for the replies. Anyone know what version of STM is contained in the March 2003 Support Plus bundle?

Also, installing STM itself will not require a reboot, is this correct?

Hi James,

I just upgraded all my systems to the latest version of STM A.42.05 ( from Sept 2003 ). You could download it from the software.hp.com website or use the "support plus" cd that HP sends across.
By the way, this version needs a patch PHSS_29543 to be installed after you upgrade the STM.
You are right....You don't need a reboot to accomplish this.

I was wondering what version of STM comes with the March 2003 Support Plus CD. I only have the March 2003 Support Plus on hand now. But will go ahead and install it this weekend. I wanted to know what version of STM was on the March 2003 Support Bundle.

I see on the readme file, there are some dependency patches that need to be on the server prior to the install. I will check and see if I must have any patches installed on the server AFTER installing STM.

Ok, so I now know that the installation of STM does not require a reboot.

The March 2003 bundle has the March 2003 version of OnlineDiags on it :-) There is a table showing the version numbers for the different releases at http://www.docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/diag/stm/stm_upd.htm#table

This shows the release date, the STM version number (shown when STM starts up) and the SW depot IDs.

Is this what you wanted?

In addition, you should always check for any patches for the version of STM you have just installed; if a patch is released there is usually a very good reason for it.

The latest patches for the March 2003 (A.38.00) release are PHSS_29703 for 11.11 and PHSS_28956 for 11.00
