I was wondering if anyone has had any experiences with unifying account management in a mixed network?

We would like to shrink our management to one platform if possible, or at least ease some of the transitions.

I've seen a bit of the PERL-LDAP (http://perl-ldap.sourceforge.net/) scripts for password changes and such, but I'm looking at a larger spectrum than just password changes.

We are currently using the MS tools for the MS side of the house and an in-house series of scripts (PERL and sh) for HP-UX account admin.

There is only one Linux server at the moment and it is stand-alone.

If there are no cross-platform solutions, we may just replace the current UNIX method. NIS+ is on the table for analysis. Is there a Linux version?

Please note, we have ~130 NT/2000 servers and ~25 HP-UX servers.

The answer to this question is LDAP

LDAP will let you run a unified atuthentication serer for yoru environment.

Here is a starter document.

http://docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/internet/intpaper.pdf

SEP

We are testing LDAP/ux and Microsoft Active directory, and have just begun to have successful fits in the lab.

We are going live with ldap in a month or so.

We are doing a portal at the same time. I'll share info with the forums as success/time permits.

Tim
