Stop:

swverify \* | grep PHKL_18543

swlist -l product | grep -i PHKL_18543

If PHKL_18543 is configured, and isntalled, do not under any circumstances re-install any port of PHKL_18543.

I find it hard to believe that an 11.00 system doesn't already have this patch installed. Its a requirement for so many patches, you wouldn't believe it.

If you reinstall PHKL_18543 it will corrupt a lot of your patches. Recovery for this mistake is painful and time consuming. HP recommend OS re-install but I know from experience how to avoid it. Trust me you don't want to know what I went through.

Q1) Do your patch install with the -x reinstall=false option so nothing will get re-installed but all 75 patches you need will go in.
Q2) Don't listen to swinstall without running the checks at the top of my post.

SEP

Hi all,
Its now October 2003, I want to update my 11.0 system with March 2003 support plus patch bundle.
I did a swinstall-> manage selection -> match what is on system, then "analyse". This produced a list of 75 partial or full patches.
Then I checked HP's web. It says that 5 of these patches in this bundle have warnings.
Q1 ) So I will not install these. Is that correct??
Q2 ) swinstall says it wants to partially install PHKL_18543. Is that OK?? I have read from forum that this patch is a very dangerous. Should I not load any of it either??
Thanks, Isaac

Hi,

These are only my opinions,

>> Q1 ) So I will not install these. Is that correct?? <<

In my case, I don't install the bad patches because they have some problem which had found from HP Patch Center.

>> Q2 ) swinstall says it wants to partially install PHKL_18543. Is that OK?? I have read from forum that this patch is a very dangerous. Should I not load any of it either?? <<

You should install partially some fileset from PHKL_18543 which needs before installing some patches in the system.
However, after done installation all of patches, you can remove the patch out of the system.

Thanks

- Patrick

If you reinstall the PHKL_18543 you will have to reinstall from scratch.
(I have experience, did this by mistake 2 weeks ago)

After reinstall the system is not able to build a new kernel, so when you want to change some parameter manual you can not build a new kernel.
