The base Veritas Volume Manager 3.5 is the first vxvm product that supports creating boot disks.

It even lets you mirror the root vg without buying extra software like you do in LVM. You can not however mirror anything else with the base product.

My information is 11i only. I'm not sure what the feature set is on 11.00

SEP

Which is the correct version for HPUX 11i volume manager 3.1 or 3.5 or I guess I should ask is 3.5 supported also I have seen quotes for Tier 2 on a rp7410 and Tier 2B which is correct.
One more question on HPUX 11.0 you could not stripe and mirror with HP's built in version of Volume manager but you could with Veritas's version. Is this feature added in HPUX 11i ....Many thanks

Hi,

It seems as, in the basic version, only striping and concatenation is included. For mirroring, RAID etc. you must buy the full version:
http://www.docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/B7961-90016/B7961-90016.html

More documentation:

http://www.docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/B7961-90018/B7961-90018.html

Hi,
If I understand the Release Notes correct you can do striping with the base product but for mirroring you need the B9116AA (which requires a codeword and is not free)

CPL Product: B9116AA
Codeword Req.: Yes
Size: 2457
Description: HP VERITAS Volume Manager 3.1
