In addition to the "lpadmin -x <PRINT queue="">", be sure to check in /etc/dt/appconfig/types/C for files named <PRINT queue="">.dt . These should be removed also!!

Wayne</PRINT></PRINT>

I created a few remote printers , but some don't work and need to be added again. I've tried removing them from SAM but it runs forever without deleting the printer and I have to kill my sam process to get it to stop. What could be the reason it's not removing the printers ? How do I remove it then ? I am in Pretoria and the printers are located all over South Africa.
Thank you

Hi,
I do not know the reason, but you can remove them with:
# lpadmin -x <PRINTERNAME>

regards,
John K.</PRINTERNAME>

Hi,

The usual reason for remote printers not being removed through sam is that alias/host name definitions cannot be resolved.

In other words the uniq quie name is okay but the host/alis name referenced does not exist in /etc/hosts or the ipaddress is not contactable.

lpadmin -x

as previously suggested is the best avenue to get round your problem.

Keith
