I don't know of any way around this other than to shut it up by giving it a domain name. Edit your /etc/mail/sendmail.cf file like this:

# my official domain name
# ... define this only if sendmail cannot automatically determine your domain
Dj$w.Foo.COM

This is right out of the default sendmail.cf file.

I looked at that but I wasn't sure if it
needed to be a 'real' domain or if I could
just put whatever in there.
Thanks

You can use a fake name or a real one. At home I use a fake name and at work our servers use the real one, even though they all send externally through a sendmail gateway or forwarder to contact the outside world.

You can stop it from running if u dont need it.

You can stop it by running

/sbin/init.d/sendmail stop

You need to look for files in /sbin/rc2.d and /sbin/rc1.d like S540sendmail and K460sendmail
rename these file to make sure sendmail wont come up after reboot.

If you want sendmail to be running without these warnings, edit /etc/mail/sendmail.cf
Look for these lines:
# my official domain name
#Dj$w.Foo.COM

and change to
# my official domain name
Djlocalhost.localdomain

-Vijay
