I am getting the following error in syslog in one of my HP-9000 server,can anyone tell me the probable reason for it?

Billing vmunix:0/0/8/0/0.1.22.0.0.13.7 sdisk

Billing vmunix:0/0/8/0/0.1.22.0.0.14 tgt

Billing vmunix:0/0/8/0/0.1.22.0.0.14.0 sdisk

Hi Utpal,

From the part of your syslog, it looks normal to me. This happen when the syslogd is started on your system with the hostname 'Billing'.

But usually the syslog message with the timestamp and quite strange if your syslog doesn't have that.

I refer you to restart the syslog daemon :

# ps -ef |grep syslogd
# kill
# /usr/sbin/syslogd -D

From above the message , it looks so so normal. Don't care about it.

Have a look at the manpage 'syslog' and 'syslogd' for getting scheme of syslog.

Here is /etc/syslog.conf
