Hi,

I created the depot from the command line:

make_depots -r B.11.11 -s /dev/dsk/c1t0d0
and then:
make_config -r B.11.11

This method worked without any problems but I still have no luck with the GUI. Maybe it is something related to the CD-drive, it is not a HP-original (the B180 was ordered without CD-drive).

Hi,

I have installed an Ignite server. The hardware is a B180L, OS HP-UX 11i September 2003, Ignite is ver. 4.4. Everything is fresh installed and there was not any problems with the installation.

But, when I try to create an Ignite depot (from Ingite GUI) I get the following error.

Error: Could not find a CD/DVD with a valid core depot.

I can see that Ignite acess the CD-drive (the LED is blinking). It is the same drive and OS CD as I used with the OS installation. I can also access the CD with swinstall.

Something seems to be wrong but I can't find out what.

Is there anyone who uses Ignite 4.4 ?

My friend,

I have just got thru setting up the Ignite Server in my B180L loaded with 11.11 September 2003. Exactly the same that you have!
I have chosed to create a depot using the
Use CD/DVD and then as I inserted the installation Media I watched the process closely.
It start with mounting the cd-rom to /iuxcdrom0, then
swreg -l depot /iuxcdrom0
/var/opt/ignite/data/Rel_B.11.11/core_cfg -s /iuxcdrom0
My ignite UX version is 4.4.29
It's created the depot of HP-UX 11.11 successfully!

If you don't have the correct CD inserted then it won't find the depot or maybe it failed to register the depot!
Please keep us updated, I'd like to know how you fixed it!

Note: I have tried to create another depot for 11.0 but it failed due to the fact that /var/opt/ignite/INDEX is defaulted for 11.11

Hi Leif,

Can you mount the cd using /etc/fstab configuration.

If so, I find it hard to believe its the drive.

If you can mount it, you could do an cp command to a disk if you have the space and try the swccopy from there.

If you don't mind slow, you could put it in another box and export the cdr with NFS and see how it works from there after you mount it.

I'm also assuming here that everything is cool on ioscan and the puppy shows up in a sea as a bootable device. Right?

SEP

Hi,
The CD-drive works normal in all cases and applications except for the Ignite GUI. I agree with that it may be a little chance the drive is the reason for the problem but I have no better idea. I will try to install Ignite on a different computer with a original CD-drive and see if it makes any difference.

As it is possible to install depots from the command line the problem is not critical.
