topic patches request in Operating System - HP-UX

patches request

I have tried unsuccessfully to install
PHKL_22274 patch, when ftping from hp patch
server, permission is denied after logging in
as anonymous. can someone please give me step by step analysis on patch install

Hi Bassey,

First of all, I can't figure out which patch is PHKL_22274.

Second, all patches come with a .txt file which gives very accurate and easy to follow installation instructions.
I can't give you the exact procedure for the patch you're talking about because I couldn't find it.

You can search for and retrieve patches on HP web, from your browser.
Check the following page:

Hi Bassey,

Are you referring to PHCO_22274 the s700_800 11.00 bdf(1M) cumulative patch?? There are no special instructions for installing this patch. What is the error that the system gives you when you try to log on?

Here is the step by step instructions:

Installation Instructions:

Please review all instructions and the Hewlett-Packard
SupportLine User Guide or your Hewlett-Packard support terms
and conditions for precautions, scope of license,
restrictions, and, limitation of liability and warranties,
before installing this patch.
------------------------------------------------------------
1. Back up your system before installing a patch.

2. Login as root.

3. Copy the patch to the /tmp directory.

4. Move to the /tmp directory and unshar the patch:

cd /tmp
sh PHCO_22274

5. Run swinstall to install the patch:

swinstall -x autoreboot=true -x patch_match_target=true -s /tmp/PHCO_22274.depot

By default swinstall will archive the original software in
/var/adm/sw/save/PHCO_22274. If you do not wish to retain a
copy of the original software, use the patch_save_files option:

swinstall -x autoreboot=true -x patch_match_target=true -x patch_save_files=false -s /tmp/PHCO_22274.depot

WARNING: If patch_save_files is false when a patch is installed,
the patch cannot be deinstalled. Please be careful
when using this feature.

For future reference, the contents of the PHCO_22274.text file is
available in the product readme:

swlist -l product -a readme -d @ /tmp/PHCO_22274.depot

To put this patch on a magnetic tape and install from the
tape drive, use the command:

dd if=/tmp/PHCO_22274.depot of=/dev/rmt/0m bs=2k
