statd - network status monitor

statd is an RPC server. It interacts with lockd to provide crash and recovery functions for the locking services on NFS (see lockd(1M)).

Hi I am now told we have a server which the remote statd service may be vulnerable to a format string attack. If this is true how can I prove it to be true and how can I prevent it happening
