    <description>Hi !&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;IÂ´m triying to reboot my HPUX server, but i receive the next message:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;# shutdown -ry 0     &lt;BR /&gt;User root not allowed to shutdown this system (b_inb_04) -- exiting shutdown.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;The strange is that i already have the shutdown.allow file , but i receive the same message.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;-rw-r--r--   1 bin        bin             15 Jan  5 14:02 shutdown.allow&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;# more shutdown.allow&lt;BR /&gt;root  b_inb_04&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Somebody have an idea that is the problem ?.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Thank's in advance</description>

      <description>Try having just the entry 'root' in shtudown.allow.&lt;BR /&gt;#cat shutdown.allow&lt;BR /&gt;root&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Or try just deleting everything out of the shutdown.allow file.</description>

      <description>I think the entries in shutdown.allow file are not right, have a look at the man pages of shutdown&lt;BR /&gt;man 1m shutdown&lt;BR /&gt;It says you should have the system name and then the user who is allowed to shutdown.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;The file contains lines that consist of a system host name&lt;BR /&gt;and the login name of a user who is authorized to reboot or&lt;BR /&gt;halt the system. &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Cheers&lt;BR /&gt;Rajeev</description>

      <description>Do these things&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;The file should have first the system name and then the user name&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;b_inb_04  root&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;you have done it reverse.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Second thing is check the permissions of the /usr/sbin/shutdown.It should be 4555.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>
