Your friend meant "real console" as a serial-connected console, like your terminal session on your laptop as opposed to a telnet session, etc.

It sounds like your laptop's terminal software is acting as the "real console". At the laptop terminal software session (console) hit <CONTROL> (at your login screen, etc. that is showing) and then <ENTER><ENTER> . Type "sl" to show logs (depdending on the firmware) hit "a" for activity logs, and "n" for filter options... if you go through those the activity light should turn off...

</ENTER></ENTER></CONTROL>

GSP login problem without 'real console'

I try to stop the amber ATTN light, so, I need to go to GSP and read those logs. But I was asked for entering the account info for Service Processor Login, I couldn't go further to the GSP prompt ( GSP> ). So, what's the default account for that?
As someone mentioned in this forum that: "Log on to the "real" console, press CTRL-B, you can then enter the GSP without passwords (only possible at a real console)". I wonder what he mean 'real console', is that 'ASCII Terminal' ?
We didn't buy this from the vender, and I am using a laptop connecting to GSP now.
So, what else I can do to stop the amber LED ?

And another question, if I reset GSP, will the system reboot ? because I don't want to reboot the system.

Thanks !

The GSP default should be
enter, enter (no login, no password)
or
Admin,admin
depending on the model.

Reseting the GSP should not effect the server. It's a seperate service processor. I've heard that the GSP can even be removed and the system will still run, but I've never had a chance to try that.

Regards,
Tom

Systems can run with no impact to users or other noticable problems with the GSP totally hung/unresponsive.
