      <description>Hi,&lt;BR /&gt;I have a system with install OS version 11.00 on L3000 model.&lt;BR /&gt;I have an high disk utilization, 94-98% from some hours.&lt;BR /&gt;What can I do to find the proc or processes make more IO activity on disks?&lt;BR /&gt;I hope that you can help me.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;By and thanks&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Filo</description>

      <description>Hi,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;You can use glance to find out which disk has more i/o and which process is generating those IO's.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;once you identified thoese process you can decide what to do with them.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;generally it happened becoz of some database query or report if your server is Database/report server.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Sunil&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>Hi,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If you do not have utilities like glance, you may use this manual procedure to find our the high i/o processes.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Since, you know the device which is hit maximum, you should know the file system mounted on that.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Now, use command "lsof | grep &lt;FILESYSTEM name=""&gt;" to list the open files for those particular file systems.       <description>Hi Filo,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Glance is the best tool. Free for 60 days. &lt;BR /&gt;If you do not have the tool you can:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;The disk io can be found with a basic tool like sar ( -d ). I assuem you know that since you have disk util numbers. You can see alle the processes active with fuser -cu mountpoint, grep the pids and do a ps -ef | grep pid.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;HTH,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Gideon&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>Use glanceplus&lt;BR /&gt;#gpm&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Glance will be there in the application CDs. Install the trial version.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If glance is not installed, use can use #iostat also to findout which disk is being utilized more. Then use sar -d option&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Glnace will give a graphical representation which is very easy to understand.&lt;BR /&gt;</description>
