topic DNS and subnets in Operating System - HP-UX

I've had a single network, bridged to my branch offices, for some time. Running DNS.

I'm about to subnet with gateways. I'm wondering if it's required, or if it makes sence, or if it's even appropriate to create some indication of subnet in DNS...

From:
hostA.network.com
hostB.network.com

To:
hostA.b1.network.com
hostB.b2.network.com

I don't want to do this if it won't have any practical purpose for me; my hostnames currently contain the branch as a suffix anyway. But it's a pain to change a PC from one branch to another.

Any advise is welcome.
I don't think you need to do this on the DNS side.

If you have a lot of users and a lot of DNS traffic, than you may improve performance by doing this.

You'll probably want to monitor system performance after creating the subnet and see if there are issues.

The subnetting is a good idea, you'll reduce poll traffic and utilize your bandwidth better.

As long as the DNS server is accessible by both subnets you should be all right.

SEP

I can't think of any reason why you'd want to do this via DNS.

Thanks. I guess I was thinking it might be more organized :) I appreciate your input, folks.
