Hi,
I have /usr/lbin/sa/sa1 running on cron for my sar stats but wondering what other tools/commands avail for me to gather other system resources utilization, namely disk I/O & memory utilization. Appreciate your input/reply. Thanks.

regards
-rosli-

I hope your OS is HP-UX. I recommend using Glanceplus for any performance and other utilization reports. The biggest advantage is it can be used to get ultimately every performance metrics using Advisory.

Also, there are other native unix utilities to collect performance data

vmstat - CPU and Memory
iostat and sar - IO
netstat - Network
nfsstat - NFS

Hope this helps
Vijay

As people have rightly said earlier the best suite of performance tools on HP-UX are MWA/PerfView/GlancePlus.All these tools

The performance tools Glance and MeasureWare use the midaemon process to access the internal hp-ux KI interface and hence more reliable.

Have a look at a this free tool called sarcheck at http://www.sarcheck.com/schp.htm

-Paddy

Hi Rosli,

Performance monitoring depends on the type of the application that you run.
For performance monitoring on HPUX systems,
the best tool is GlancePlus.
There are more functions which can be used to effectively monitor the performace
and one can fine tune the system based on the glance plus report. It gives the % Utilization as well as individual reports of each of the following:

CPU Disk Mem Swap

Thanks,
Lanke

Atttaching my handy perf data collection script.

It runs background, uses sar and you as the user get to set the length of the collection period.

Originally HP support gave it to me. I've upgraded it substantially.

SEP
