    <description>/etc/profile will do the job&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;At least for Posix users.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;The effect however is as if it was put in all the .profile files.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Now some users won't react well to the change. files will get messed up when created, things like that.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;For those specific instances override the umask in the .profile file.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;SEP</description>

      <description>You can put the value in /etc/profile (POSIX shell users) &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;OR find out the global profile file for users and set it there</description>

      <description>This should be done as soon as your system is installed. The only (best) place to have it is in /etc/profile like this:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;# Set umask&lt;BR /&gt;umask 022</description>
