      <description>on my hp b180l hp 10.20 ux&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;i launch an sofwtare install install analysis&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;was ok.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;But when i confirm the install the process seems don't work and it's like blocked.....&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I don't know if you understand&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;do you have any suggestion?</description>

      <description>What are you installing !&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Is in the swinstall.log any information regarding this install ?&lt;BR /&gt;Or is there no file installed at all ?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Did you ran an swlist to see if anything is installed at all ?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;C.</description>

      <description>Matteo,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Look in your swagent.log file for this line:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;01/28/04 10:24:22 MET  BEGIN install AGENT SESSION (pid=1381)&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Here you are starting to try and install what you want to install.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;There you get lots of NOTE's which are explaining that lots of parts are already installed&lt;BR /&gt;Then you get ERROR's which explain you try to install software that can not be installed because other needed parts are not on your system.&lt;BR /&gt;Then again lots of NOTE's regarding patches already installed on your system.&lt;BR /&gt;Then again ERROR's about IGNITE software and unable to resolve dependencies.&lt;BR /&gt;Then you get the :&lt;BR /&gt;* Summary of Analysis Phase:&lt;BR /&gt;Here is displayed which filesets are excluded&lt;BR /&gt;Then it looks like the session is stopped, because of the user canceling the session.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Then we start all over again:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;01/28/04 14:05:56 MET  BEGIN install AGENT SESSION (pid=3694)&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Same as above !&lt;BR /&gt;Then again:&lt;BR /&gt;01/28/04 14:25:45 MET  BEGIN install AGENT SESSION (pid=5104)&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Same result:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Then we get to this morning:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;=======  01/29/04 10:16:06 MET  BEGIN install AGENT SESSION (pid=1375)&lt;BR /&gt;         (jobid=gehp32-0036)&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;       * Agent session started for user "root@gehp32". (pid=1375)&lt;BR /&gt;ERROR:   This Agent session lost the RPC connection to the Controller&lt;BR /&gt;         or Target Agent that initiated the session.  RPC runtime&lt;BR /&gt;         detected this lost connection.  The session is being shut&lt;BR /&gt;         down.  (pid=1375)&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;=======  01/29/04 10:16:46 MET  END install AGENT SESSION (Cancelled)&lt;BR /&gt;         (pid=1375) (jobid=gehp32-0036)&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Probably you restarted the swagentd en then we start over again with the same stuff as above:&lt;BR /&gt;01/29/04 10:18:33 MET  BEGIN install AGENT SESSION (pid=1397)&lt;BR /&gt;Same analysis eeror's as above !&lt;BR /&gt;But now after analysis we start with:&lt;BR /&gt;* Beginning the Install Execution Phase.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;       * Filesets:         230&lt;BR /&gt;       * Files:            15166&lt;BR /&gt;       * Kbytes:           839317&lt;BR /&gt;       * Installing bundle "700QPK1020,r=ACE.199912.02" .&lt;BR /&gt;       * Installing bundle "B5458DA,r=C.01.18.04" because it is a&lt;BR /&gt;         "reference" bundle and one or more of its contained filesets&lt;BR /&gt;         is being installed.&lt;BR /&gt;       * Installing bundle "B6378DA,r=ACE.199912.01" .&lt;BR /&gt;       * Installing bundle "J2559C,r=D.06.21" .&lt;BR /&gt;       * Installing bundle "OS_Patch,r=04.00" .&lt;BR /&gt;       * Installing bundle "SRA,r=C.02.02" .&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;The question is did you cancel it yourself or did the system stops running the installation ??????&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Since after the beginning of the  installation we suddenly go to the next restart !&lt;BR /&gt;=======  01/29/04 11:13:14 MET  BEGIN install AGENT SESSION (pid=2798)&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;After the restart there is something installed:&lt;BR /&gt;The first patch installed is:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;          'PHKL_10163' from being backed off the system.&lt;BR /&gt;WARNING: The "preinstall" script for "PHKL_10163" had a warning (exit&lt;BR /&gt;         code "2"). Check the above output from the script&lt;BR /&gt;         for further details.&lt;BR /&gt;       * Installing fileset "PHKL_10163.PHKL_10163,r=B.10.00.00.AA" (1&lt;BR /&gt;         of 230).&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;=======  01/29/04 11:23:01 MET  BEGIN swmodify SESSION&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;       * Session started for user "root@gehp32".&lt;BR /&gt;         &lt;BR /&gt;       * Source:        &lt;BR /&gt;       * Target:        gehp32:/&lt;BR /&gt;       * Software selections:&lt;BR /&gt;             OS-Core.CORE-KRN&lt;BR /&gt;       * File selections:&lt;BR /&gt;             /usr/conf/lib/libhp-ux.a&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;       * Beginning Selection Phase.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;       * Validating the selected files and control files.&lt;BR /&gt;       * Selection Phase succeeded.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;       * Beginning Analysis Phase.&lt;BR /&gt;       * Analysis Phase succeeded.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;       * Beginning Modification Phase.&lt;BR /&gt;       * Modification Phase succeeded.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;After this it looks like we start all over again:&lt;BR /&gt;=======  01/29/04 11:23:01 MET  END swmodify SESSION&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;=======  01/29/04 11:33:13 MET  BEGIN install AGENT SESSION (pid=4392)&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;********** Restarted yourself ????? ******&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;After this restarted analysis we see some software and patches/filesets being installed.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;* Installing bundle "J2559C,r=D.06.21"  etc....&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Lots of filesets are being installed , and then suddenly we get this restart ????&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Busy installing !!!!!!!!&lt;BR /&gt;       * Installing fileset "PHKL_22087.PHKL_22087,r=B.10.00.00.AA" (39&lt;BR /&gt;         of 229).&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;And then restart !!!!!&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;=======  01/29/04 12:50:21 MET  BEGIN install AGENT SESSION (pid=7717)&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;The we start installing filesets again:&lt;BR /&gt;=======  01/29/04 13:01:19 MET  BEGIN swmodify SESSION&lt;BR /&gt;Several other filesets from the tape are now being installed&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;The all over again !&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;01/29/04 13:09:17 MET  BEGIN install AGENT SESSION (pid=9353)&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;The again it looks like being killed, and restarted again:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;=======  01/29/04 13:23:19 MET  BEGIN install AGENT SESSION (pid=10823)&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;And again killed ! and restarted:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;=======  01/29/04 13:51:46 MET  BEGIN install AGENT SESSION (pid=12450)&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Then we are almost at the end of your log file where again some filesets are being installed.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;This was a look through your log file !&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;My conclusion :&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I think it takes more time than you expect to install the software from the tape.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;So restart your installation session and keep a tail running on your swagent.log file &lt;BR /&gt;(# tail -f /var/adm/sw/swagent.log)&lt;BR /&gt;to see what exactly the system is doing.&lt;BR /&gt;So far as I can see there is no clue for a failing installaion , execpt from being restarted several time in a row.&lt;BR /&gt;Keep the session running without manually interupting the session.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I think the performance of the system (B180 with probably one processor and low memory) will be a bit poor. So it might look like the system is doing nothing at all.&lt;BR /&gt;Give it some time.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Kind regards,&lt;BR /&gt;Clemens</description>
