As you work on the sorting of the memory pieces, consider only installing 2 or 4 at a time, to help narrow the possible mis match or hardware error.

9000 / 800 / L2000 class server: Trying to boot for first time, to install OS. During boot I am getting MEMORY errors. Please see attached log file.

Can any one please tell me what these memory erros are? Is the memory bad? Is the memory located in the wrong slots? etc. etc. etc?

(P.S. This error is unreleated to another boot problem, which I have also posted today -- different server.)

Thank you,

Cameron
Hi Cameron,

I don't think we can get much detail from the attachment other than concluding what you already did - that there is a hardware issue with the memory.

If you have hardware support (it should be covered if it is a new system) with HP, then have them check up the server.

-Sri

Looks like a memory load order error. Same-sized memory needs to be paired up starting in lowest-numbered slots. If you have different sized pairs, install the largest ones first.

Steven, thank you for the script. Unfortunately I cannot run the script currently -- as I cannot boot into the system (no OS is currently installed).

Cameron
The best choice would be to get the support from HP or your hardware support. If you want to try something by yourself, try:
1) Reseating the memory on the slots
2) Install one pair first and see if it works and then add one by one. Follow the memory rules when you do this.
3) Check the PIM information for more details from Boot console menu
4) Check the slots with Offline Diag tools from boot menu

Thank you all. The problem is RESOLVED. The problem was that the memory was not inserted into the memro slots in the required memory-bank order, i.e. 0a/b, 1a/b, 2a/b, etc...
