      <description>Have wanted to change the "maxswapchunks"&lt;BR /&gt;kernel parameter. &lt;BR /&gt;but after changing the parameter by "kmtune" command it is showing me new value in "planed" field.&lt;BR /&gt;after rebooting the system it is still showing the old value, why?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;pls reply me.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Amit singh&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>Hi Amit,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Most of the Kernel parameters require a kernel reconfiguration and a reboot to take effect. Note that you need to reconfigure the kernel before you reboot the system.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Refer,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;A href="http://docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/TKP-90202/TKP-90202.html" target="_blank"&gt;http://docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/TKP-90202/TKP-90202.html&lt;/A&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;kmtune -l will show you if a parameter is static or dynamic (that doesnt require a reboot)&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;-Karthik S S&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>Hi Amit,&lt;BR /&gt; You need to rebuild the kernel using "/usr/sbin/mk_kernel -o /stand/vmunix" .&lt;BR /&gt;Once this is done, then reboot the system. You can do all this using "SAM" .&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;thanks&lt;BR /&gt;Anita</description>
