Hi all,

Have an issue at a client on a HP-UX 11i v.1 server since they loaded the December 2003 QPK. The install went haywire and was unfortunately aborted. First off, SAM would not work, giving the error (samlog) below at SAM STARTUP:

I found the SAM disk thread (http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/ciss/doLogin.do?TargetPage=http%3A%2F%2Fforums1.itrc.hp.com%2Fservice%2Fforums%2FpostQuestion.do%3FfamilyId%3D117%26forumId%3D1)

and noticed that many of the products were in "installed" state rather than "configured". We then tried the swconfig \* -> it failed with multiple errors -> see attached file.

I managed to get SAM running by doing a swconfig SystemAdmin, but when one quits SAM, it asks to regen the kernel, the mk_kernel errors out with the following:

Cannot build a kernel using /usr/sbin/config. The standard output of the command is shown below:
Unsatisfied symbol "create_ip6_devfile" in file /usr/conf/lib/libnet.a[stcpmap.o] 1 errors.
Stop config: make did an exit(1) The command exitted with exitcode -71.

Now, the fact that we cannot do a swconfig, what are my options? Deinstall what is installed and try again? I found another thread that said a GSP reset would help (????) - I tried it anyway to no avail.

Your input would be most welcome,

MND

Yes,you are right the bundle contains only few filesets of that patch.

Download that patch and do a re-install of that patch. That should fix it.

The problem you are facing is that stcpmap.o is not found with the filesets of that patch installed with the bundle as the bundle has only few filesets of that patch.

Morning all,

Ok, was not as simple as I thought - this patch had a dependancy on another and that patch needed to regen the kernel which this patch was fixing - catch 22! We are down to 11 products in the installed state, but getting there.

Thanks for all the help TG and Robert-Jan - invaluable.

Case closed.

MND
