Hi Marie,

Here is the link for sudo distribution at the HP porting center.
This will be a lot easier to install.
Anyway, you shouldn't worry about the warning as you're not running a PA 1.x system.
The linker always reports this.

Get the Dynamically Linked Binary at:
http://hpux.cae.wisc.edu/hppd/hpux/Sysadmin/sudo-1.6.2b1/

Best regards,

Dan

PS: Make sure you browse the README file

I now have another problem. I apparently have an incompatability with C/ANSI with the -g option. I had several lines ignored when I did the "make" command. I also got a warning that at least one PA 2.0 object was detected. The linked output may not run on a PA 1.x system. This may be the reason why I can't run visudo to edit the sudoers file. Any thoughts on how to fix this? Do I need to run "make distclean" to undo the ./configure? If so, do I run it from sudo-1.6.3p5 directory? Thanks for your help.

You would have to look at COMPILEDIR/Makefile to find out what the make will do. Most of the time the cache file is not deleted. If you are really worried, wipe the dist and re-extract from the tar file.
If you are not running HP's ANSI-C or GNU's gcc, then get it before compiling anything of any value. The standard K&R C compiler is not very good, can not optomize, etc....

Also is there a reason why you are not going to the porting center and downloading a pre-compiled version?

Regards,
Shannon
