      <description>rp2405 - HP-UX 11.11 boots slowly:&lt;BR /&gt;- starting NFS client subsystem 3 minutes&lt;BR /&gt;- Starting maildaemon    10 min&lt;BR /&gt;- Start SNMP HP-UX Network Management Subagent 5 min&lt;BR /&gt;- Configure HP Dual Port 2Gbps/1Gbps Fibre Channel Universal PCI-X Adapter 15 min&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Then to start SAM takes 2,5 min.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Any Ideas??&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Bo Erikson</description>

      <description>Hi Bo,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;The first 3 issues are almost certainly name resolution issues. Make sure you have the hostname properly in /etc/hosts &amp;amp; that you have the FQDN as an alias - for EX:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;123.111.222.111 hostname  hostname.company.com&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Then make sure your network config - especially the default route are correct in netconf &amp;amp; that the speed settings on the NIC match the switch port.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Rgds,&lt;BR /&gt;Jeff</description>

      <description>Karthik - &lt;BR /&gt;ping is no problems, the system is brand new and doesn't HP install the latest patches?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Jeff - &lt;BR /&gt;everything looks OK in this department&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;LeiF - &lt;BR /&gt;NIS shall not be used and is not configured&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Ravi - &lt;BR /&gt;we use all (NFS, mail, SNMP)&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Any more ideas?</description>

      <description>Hi (again) Bo,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;What does your /etc/nsswitch.conf file contain for search order?&lt;BR /&gt;If you don't have one, HP-UX defaults to NIS first &amp;amp; if you don't have it or don't have it setup yet on this system, this could account for significant delays.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Rgds,&lt;BR /&gt;Jeff</description>
