Hi,

Hoping someone can help me with a java question. We currently have java1.3.1 running on our 11i box. We would like to install a separate instance of java1.3.0. I know that swinstall does not allow you to specify where to install. In fact, the analysis fails because there is a newer version on the server. I know you can overide this but I want to keep java1.3.1. Is it possible to do this?

Thanks...can I use swinstall to install java 1.3.0 and keep java1.3.1? My problem is when I try to do this, it wants to replace the 1.3.1 filesets with the 1.3.0 filesets.

Java1.3.1 is not supported with some Tivoli modules, but 1.3.0 is. We have other applications using java1.3.1 so I don't want to overide it...that's why I'd like a seperate instance. I understand you can seperate instances ie 1.2 vs 1.3 vs 1.4 but what about my scenario?

I see.

No, within the java 1.3 world, java 1.3.1 will overwrite java 1.3.0

Except:

You might be able to change the isntall target. The problem there is that this creates software that won't show up on a swlist command.

SEP

I was considering the tar method. I know very little about java. Is it self contained?

I think I'm going to try this.

Thanks
