1. You can't patch something that isn't installed
2. Several years ago you HAD to have a compiler in order to install Oracle. I belive nowadays you only need it if you do "advanced things" with Oracle. (I'm on thin ice here.)

Regards,
Trond

I am going to install oracle 10g, which requires to have such patch installed first:
PHSS_26793 S700-800 11.X +O4/PBO Compiler B.11.11.04 cumulative patch

But when I tried to load this patch, I couldn't pass the Analysis phase:

The patch fileset "PHSS_26793.LANG-AUX,r=1.0" may only be installed upon a previously installed base fileset. The specification for this base fileset is "Auxiliary-Opt.LANG-AUX,fr=B.11.11.04,v=HP". Since there is no fileset on the target or selected from the source which matches this specification, fileset "PHSS_26793.LANG-AUX,r=1.0" will be excluded.

So, what can i do to load such patch which required for 10g upgrade ?
Thanks!

Do you have the HP C-ANSI-C product installed? This is where the Auxiliary-Opt.LANG-AUX (/opt/langtools) software comes from. If you don't have it, you'll need to purchase it from HP.

Part #B3901BA

Hi,

You need to have "C-ANSI-C B.11.11.04" Compiler installed before the patch installation.

hth

Correct! Those 2 patches are only for B.11.11.04 of the Ansi C compiler. Since you have B.11.11.06 installed you don't need those patches.

However, you probably should install patch PHSS_28706 which is the "ANSI C compiler B.11.11.06 cumulative patch"

You can have a look at the patch here:

http://www1.itrc.hp.com/service/patch/patchDetail.do?BC=patch.breadcrumb.main|patch.breadcrumb.search|&patchid=PHSS_28706&context=hpux:800:11:11
