How do i access the "shutdown" man pages? Because there is 2 man pages for shutdown when i do man -k shutdown.

Hi:

# man 1M shutdown

will give you the server shutdown man pages.

# man shutdown
# man 2 shutdown

These last ones give you the man pages for shutting down a socket (in section 2).

Jasmin,

The rule on Manpages is the following

man [

] command

If the command is in section #1, or it is the only command available, then you do not need to use the section #.

For this example, you will need to type the following:

man 1m shutdown

to get the man pages for the (1M)Shutdown command.
