Hi everybody,

I'm just about to swremove Omniback II ready to install Data Protector.

Is there an easy regression path if the new installation goes wrong, or do I have to make sure I have the original Omniback disc to hand?

Mark Syder (like the drink but spelt different)

If you remove it, it is removed. You'll need the CD's to install it again. However, you could always cheat.

Just copy /etc/opt/omni and /var/opt/omni somewhere else and don't swremove Omniback at all. It SHOULD work. Personally, I'd prefer to have the CD available though.

Always work the right way.Else you will to regret.

Better have a backup of the config files.

Have the CD to re-install the filesets incase of problems.

Thanks

Unfortunately swinstall still detected that there was an older version present, even though I'd moved those directories.

Looks as if I'm stuck with doing swremove. But not to worry - I've got the directories copied to a safe place. And I've still got the Omniback CD to fall back on!

Points to be awarded when I see how successful this is.

Mark

Hi,
Have you moved all the 3 directories
/etc/opt/omni,
/var/opt/omni &
/opt/omni.
If yes then have you stopped the omniback II daemons.
If yes then try using fuser to kill the omni processes and then use swremove.

Regards

Thanks everyone.

I've now successfully installed Data Protector and am trying to learn how to use it - expect more questions! I'm not finding it very user-friendly - it looks more like a Mickysoft product than an HP-UX one (am I allowed to say Mickysoft?).

Mark
