Lane:

yesterday, this question came up - a couple of things - do a search for ACL for future reference.

Essentially, you will have to stop and start swagentd and try again.

/sbin/init.d/swagentd stop ; /sbin/init.d/swagentd start

to get you started :

http://my1.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,1150,0x8bfd6c96588ad4118fef0090279cd0f9!0,00.html

Good luck
I am new to the HP-UX world, please excuse a simple question. I have downloaded patches from HP's web site, and, following the instructions, extracted the .depot and .text files. When I execute the swinstall -s on the .depot file (as per instructions) I get an error message:
You do not have the required permissions to perform this SD operation. Please check to see that you have the required permissions using the "swacl" command or see your system administrator for assistance.

I am executing this as 'root', and after poking around in the swacl command a bit, can't see any reason why I shouldn't be able to execute the command as entered.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I tried the proceedure referred to in the other threads, but nothing seemed to help. Are there any other things I could try?

Thanks again - this forum has been a great help for me.

Wait!! I take that back - I rebooted, now swinstall appears to be working. Thanks for the pointers.

Lane

Hi
Just check if the patches which you are installing need autoreboot=true option. In that case after installing patch the system will reboot. If you are installing such patch without autoreboot=true option. system will not allow you to install the patch. Also check for Warnings in the log file.

Rgds
Shailesh
