Rainer, with our boxes, pressing these keys never works!

Pressing randomly a bunch of keys gives better results ;-)
Where can I get the list of keys to press to interrupt the boot process on each common HP box (HP-UX 10.20 / 11.00) such as B180L, L1000, D280, 712... ?

(I mean the stage where the OS executes the /sbin/rc*.*/* scripts and that sometimes stay frozen on "Waiting...")

TIA, Jerome

You could use the [BREAK] key or
[CTRL] C or
[CTRL] Hope that helps

Hi Jerome,

If your system freezes in rc*, you may give a try at <CTRL-B> which will put you back in control.
On some systems like K-class, the key need to be in the "service" position for <CTRL-B> to work. Have a look at the system manual.

Type "co" to return to console mode.

Joyeux Noel, Merry Christmas

Dan

</CTRL-B></CTRL-B>

Use "ctrl b" or "ctrl \". This will work depending on the stage of /sbin/rc* programme it is executing.

Jerome,

The ctrl+b always works, this brings you in the Control Mode.
You can even use those keys if the system is up and running and you want to produce a dump file.
as follow: CM> tc (toc)
CM> rs (restart)
CM> co (back to console)

On a 700-terminal press 'interrupt' , upper left key, several times.

With a little of luck, the current /sbin/rcX.d start script will break.
