I am having a problem where if my group id is 60000 or above, I cannot create files on certain file systems on my data server. The server is 10.20 with 2 disk towers. One tower has 7 4GB disks where each disk is a file system, all VXFS, non-LVM. The other tower is a raid 5 tower with multiple logical volumes all VXFS. I cannot write files on the first tower that is non-lvm if the group id is greater than 59999, but I can write files on the other tower volumes(LVM) without problems. I seemed to remember seeing something about this in the forum 6-8 months ago but my search of the forum did not get me anywhere. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

GW

Paula,
I looked at this setting and that only dictates how long a line can be in the group file which is not applicable in this situation. Thanks anyways

Glenn

Dan,
I checked out that article and it talks about this issue but I already have the patch fixes in place. The thing that baffles me is that the problem is only on some file systems and not others.

GW
