Hi,
If you have other HP-System Just compare the permissions and ownerships and change it respectively.
If Not then :
Use your console and boot the system into single user mode.
Hope you know how to get into single user mode.
ISL>hpux -is
If you know what changes had been made revert back the changes for the /usr.
If not then :
You will have to boot from the recovery cd and mount /usr filesystem and change the permissions and ownerships.

Regards,

If at all you are not able to boot in single user mode

If you have connection to the server you should be able to change the permissions back you should be okay as both chown/chmod are in /sbin

# chown bin:bin /usr
# chmod 555 /usr

Then bring the system up.

It sounds like you may have many permissions problems remaining. You can run 'swverify "*"' to check the permissions (and checksums) of all of the files and directories that are known to swinstall. That could give you a much quicker way to deal with these problems instead of tripping over them one symptom at a time.
