Hi

first check to see if you have problem with your disk , you can boot your system with recovery disk and check the status of the disk and where is the vmunix , maybe someone had move it , i will not recommend to extract the vmunix form the ignite tape but this can be done , just put the tape of the ignite and do a restore .

it seem that you are trying to do it from the IPL , so your system is o.k , but i will boot in the recovery shell to see what is the problem , you can also check the /stand/build to see if there is a kernel over there .

you didnt told what test you did so i cant tell you want happen to the kernel .
We have a strangs situation: We hade for test to change the boot disk (we have only one disk). And after the test we changed the disk back and would start the hpux (11.11)... But we had this error-message:
..../stand/vmunix : cannot open, or not executable. We had the same error with vmunix.old and vmunix.prev. (Yes, we have a backup, but not the with the configuration from the last 2 days).

What can be wrong? Can I 'restore' only the kernel-file from the tape? Are there any other changes to rescue the system?

Thanks Konrad

Hello Eran

We are worry that it can be a wrong disk. But thanks for your help.
The tests where we did was with an other disk, this was the reason, for changing the disk. So, the problem can't be about the disks.

Hi

so it you will boot to recovery shell ( it is the same disk that it used to install )

you can check which disk is the system disk , also in the boot menu you can try to do - search ipl to search for boot devices and not all devices .

good luck
